Summer just got more interesting! Starting 8 August, four Sunday evening drives in August and early September make up OWRL´s 2010 FBM Trophy. In the four events LFS drivers contest a qualifying race, sprint race and main race in the Formula BMW. The season starts at Fern Bay Gold and will have a special event at Aston Club, where a layout will be used.
Quentin Benoît with a racewin back on top at mid-season
Before the drivers will start their summer break, they had to drive sixty laps at the Aston North circuit for the sixth round of this years’ OWRL F1 season. Adam Wisniewski led Quentin Benoît by two points which gave both a good chance to rest two months as the leader of the championship.
Last OWRL F1 race before the summer break this Saturday @ 19:30 CEST on MultiBC
The sixth and last race before a longer break takes place at the Aston North circuit, a difficult track where bravery is rewarded more than on other tracks with the fast downhill chicane or the complete second and thrid sector. Christian Felder will try to win another race to close the gap to the current leader of the championship Adam Wisniewski and his chaser Quentin Benoît, woh are just seperated by two points. After that the drivers will get two months of rest. At 17:30 GMT - 19:30 CEST Stefan \'germanpio\' Piotrowski commentates the event on MultiBC.
Christopher Felder wins his first ever OWRL F1 race
The fifth round of this years’ OWRL F1 season was held at the Westhill International course which was used in the reversed configuration under sunset conditions. After the lead change in the world championship last race where SPDO Racing’s Adam Wisniewski took the lead from Quentin Benoît of Redline Racing, the latter had to react this time. In addition to that many new faces were seen on this high-speed track.
OWRL F1 in the sunset of Westhill on Saturday 19:30 CEST on multiBC
We head to the fast circuit of Westhill for the fifth round of the OWRL F1 series in 2010, where both Adam Wisniewski and Quentin Benoît are continuing their fight for the lead in the world championship. Although the track is much faster than the two previous races, the room for failures is again small so there will be no time to rest for the drivers.
The LIVE broadcast starts at 17:30 GMT - 19:30 CEST on MultiBC with Stefan 'germanpio' Piotrowski and Christian 'Hansi' Kistner guiding you through the event.
After the tight circuit of South City we headed to the circuit of Jamaica, where the fourth race of the season were held on the Fern Bay Black track. Both Adam Wisniewski and Quentin Benoît wanted to be in the top position of the world championship after this race and their teams SPDO Racing and Redline Racing were also fighting for the lead in the Team Championship.
OWRL S2 Season 16 Div A/B championships dominated by Chris and FireDragon
The Open Wheel Racing League S2 Season 16 started in February and recently came to a conclusion. Division A was for the more experienced drivers and uses the F3000-like Formula V8. For new drivers or those that prefer the closer racing the smaller formula cars offer, Division B races are held with the Formula XR and the Formula BMW. New this season was a team championship, but even before the final round it became clear this new rule did not change the strongest driver and team. Just like in S2 Season 15, RAPTOR | Chris claimed the Div A championship in a way which redefines ‘dominating’ and [SR] FireDragon was the strongest in Div B. Both drivers led their team effort handing the first team championships to RAPTOR-GAMING and Sonicrealms Racing.
After the tight street circuit we go to another tight track. The only race in Fern Bay will be on the Black circuit, which means more distance to the wall and also higher curbs. In the past years we have seen every possible strategy, from driving slowly and avoiding the curbs to a five-stop strategy, which was the winning strategy in 2007. Key factors are concentration and a car setup, that forgives rumbling over the curbs.
Join Chris 'Wilko868' Wilkinson, Christian 'Hansi' Kistner and Stefan 'germanpio' Piotrowski at 17:30 GMT - 19:30 CEST for two qualifyings and 47 laps at Fern Bay on multiBC.
Wisniewski repeats his win at South City Long from last years' OWRL F1
After a long break of three weeks the drivers headed to South City to score some points at the Long circuit of the track. The race is the longest of the season and is one of the highly expected races of the season, just like the Monaco GP, with the exception that overtaking is possible here. Quentin Benoît, the current leader of the World Championship, was looking to keep his lead against the current champion Adam Wisniewski, who was on a roll in the past South City races.
