Race wins were decided by penalties in the final round at Aston National but these did not change the points lead GenR.Klaidas had. On 5 May 2012 Klaidas was crowned champion of OWRL's S2 Season 20!
[SR] Pete and PLZ MaxNorris were the race winners in the eventful event. Klaidas made his intentions clear in qualifying when he grabbed pole over three tenths ahead of the rest of the field. In the sprint race he had to cross swords with Pete to get back up front, whilst MaxNorris followed his example and also overtook Pete halfway through the race. That move for P2 proved to be the race winning overtake as Klaidas would receive a chat penalty, dropping him from first to fourth in the sprint race results. The main race once again was a fight between the three previously mentioned drivers. Pete led for most of the race after an incident filled lap 1 but MaxNorris held on to his tail, looking ready to pounce when Pete was the first to make his pitstop. MaxNorris used the strategy to pit as late as possible and he seemed to do enough to leapfrog his opponent. That is, until he entered pit lane. Going over the speed limit and with only two laps to race, a 30 seconds time penalty was given to the Italian. MaxNorris still crossed the line in first position, but victory went to Pete ahead of the championship winning ride by Klaidas. MaxNorris finished third even with the penalty.
The top three of the driver championship stayed the same. meaning that behind Klaidas, second place went to MaxNorris and third to [SR] bLb. Consistency payed off for FPR Tisu#66 who scored points in every race this season and was rewarded with 4th place in the standings after Aston National. MaxNorris, the only other driver to accomplish the same feat, still had something to celebrate with his teammates: Playerzone easily held onto their advantage in the final round and won the team championship, ahead of Sonicrealms Racing and the Spirit Racing Team.
Klaidas and Playerzone, from the full organizing team of the Open Wheel Racing League, congratulations!
GenR.Klaidas closes in on title with perfect performance
As we get into the final third of the season at last a clear favorite for the championship emerges. GenR.Klaidas missed the opening round of the season but exceeded his already solid results after that by putting on a show at Westhill International rev. Klaidas grabbed pole a tenth ahead of [SR] Pete, then hold the first position for a start/finish victory in the sprint race, in which CQ | Gargi was his biggest challenger. Gargi started from 4th, quickly worked his was up to second but couldn't fully close the gap to Klaidas.
In the main race, Klaidas remained unfazed with the top 8 reversed grid and worked his way back to the front, still leading the most laps of the race. He was joined on the podium by SR teammates StormCloud and Pete. With the maximum points available from Westhill, Klaidas managed to increase his lead in the championship to 80 points to PLZ MaxNorris in second place. MaxNorris is the only driver that can still keep Klaidas from taking his first OWRL title, but he would need to finish both races on the podium to do so. Klaidas could already clinch the title in the sprint race of the Aston National event if by then has scored at least 23 points more than MaxNorris.
MaxNorris will also have to help defend the lead the Playerzone team has in the team standings. With a full 100 points headstart over SRT, and a little more over SR, a couple of drivers finishing the final event in decent positions would be enough for them.
Double podium launches Klaidas to top of the standings
Two second places for Genr.Klaidas has propelled the driver from fourth to first in the standings. At Blackwood Historic, the Lithuanian qualified in second, kept the position for almost the full sprint race and moved up back to second in the main race. Of course, a second place is no race victory. The sprint race victory went to the same person as who won pole. 3id J.Lehikoinen. Just as it looked like the reigning champion was getting set for one of his dominant performances, things did not go his way during the main race. J.Lehikoinen followed Klaidas through the field until they were third and fourth. After a couple of laps, the two strongest drivers of the day had a short duel which ended in contact and a spin for J.Lehikoinen who then got hit by CRO Leon5p. Eventually this led to his retirement from the race.
However, this incident should not overshadow the performance of !NF D.Jagodits in the main race. He was the best of the slipstreamers on the backstraight earning the lead on lap 1. D.Jagodits never looked back and used a consistency, a smart strategy and outright speed to take the victory at his return in the Open Wheel Racing League. Congratulations!
The overall driver standings now include the worst points dropped over the first four events. Over the course of the full season, a drivers best 5 events count towards the overall title. Because of this, it may seem for some drivers that they did not had their points added. For the next round we stay with the Formula V8 but this time use a normal configuration. This means you can drive on any server online to set a valid time for your registration for Westhill International rev. This race is next Saturday, so its one week less waiting for the next race.

[SR] bLb ends the FOX phase of the championship on stop of the standings as GenR.Feuerdrache gets the perfect result in his first S2 Season 20 outing. Feuerdrache had to fight hard for it, only snatching pole from PLZ vincper in his final attempt during qualifying. In the sprint race Feuerdrace kept the lead despite being challenged at the start. By the time Vincper got the better of Genr.Klaidas, Feuerdrache had built up enough of a lead to finish the race unchallenged.
The main race was a different story as Feuerdrache found himself midfield after he was helped into a spin on lap 1. The incident also claimed vincper. Upfront SRT Flip needed one lap and one corner to take the lead from a fifth place starting position. Flip built a decent lead in the race but in the second half of the race he couldn't prevent Feuerdrache and vincper from closing in and overtaking him. Still he was awarder with a podium finish. Feuerdrache withstood the pressure from vincper to take the main race victory and to score the maximum amount of points one can get in an OWRL event.
[SR] bLb had two more consistent finishes giving him the championship lead ahead of MaxNorris and Flip. With three races to go in the Formula V8 it is impossible to predict how this will continue. Stay tuned or even better, be part of the action by joining the next round at Blackwood Historic!
Tonight round 3 of S2 Season 20 and the final round of racing with the Formula XR. The series goes to Aston Cup, one of the more popular open layouts in LFS. The race length that had been given earlier was wrong. It has been corrected and is right in the server info.

CoRe S.Anttonen takes championship lead in South City
A great day for the CoRe team in South City. As the dust settled from the races on South City Long rev, CoRe T.Lähteenmäki had won the main race and CoRe S.Anttonen took the lead in the drivers championship and furthermore the team gathered enough points to take the lead in the team standings. It did not took that rosy after just the sprint race. GenR.Klaidas first took an important pole in the qualifying session and then kept the lead despite pressure from S.Anttonen and teammate Joonas at the start. Even with S.Anttonen staying within a second almost the whole race, Klaidas kept the lead unchallenged and took victory the his first chance he got this season.
After a decent podium finish in the sprint race for one CoRe driver, the day turned from good to great during the main race. T.Lähteenmäki immediately took the lead from P2 at the start of the main race and never looked back. S.Anttonen got spun out on lap 1 but then drove an excellent recovery to fifth, unsurprisingly setting the fastest lap of the race and taking the championship lead in the process. Meanwhile on the second server, the sprint race was decided with another interteam battle by SRT drivers Tobi and Flip, with this time Tobi taking the win. It was an exciting finish to the race after AA™|Frozeni lead up to lap 8 before losing it as he struggle with hot tyres, then just finishing ahead of pod.Germanpio for the final podium position. The main race was decided much earlier in the race as Bandes took P1 after only a couple of laps and took a massive victory in FOX terms: over 10 seconds.
In a short time the second round of S2 Season 20 is set to start. The OWRL drivers will tackle the South City Long rev street course.

J.Lehikoinen takes maximum points from Kyoto National
The opening round of S2 Season 20 saw a familiar name occupying victory lane. 3id J. Lehikoinen started the defense of his title strong. After qualifying on pole J. Lehikoinen continued to lead the full sprint race. [SR] Joku managed to follow him for the first half of the race before the gap grew in the second part. Winning the sprint race means a 8th place starting position for the main race. When the Finnish driver is in form, he quickly moves through the field to the front and at Kyoto, J. Lehikoinen was in form. By the end of lap 1 he was in 4th and early in lap 3 the reigning champion had the lead, winning the race well ahead of CoRe S.Anttonen and SR bLb.
The only hope J. Lehikoinen gave his opponents was when he showed that he is human after all, after he spun out on the curbs of the first chicane. Even with that moment, the gap to P2 was much bigger on server 1 than on server 2. [SR] eiwer let his opponents come within one second in the final laps of the sprint race but the held on to take his debut OWRL victory. In the main race, the SRT in-team battle between Flip and Tobi went in favor of Flip.

Race weekends All races are on saturday evenings in a bi-weekly schedule. The events start with a 15 minute qualifying session at 20:00 CET. This is followed by a sprint and main race. For the main race the starting grid is the result of the sprint race with the top 8 reversed. All FO8 events have a mandatory pitstop.
