FBM Trophy champion 3id J.Lehikoinen outclasses everyone

After three rounds of four in the FBM Trophy J.Lehikoinen has done the unthinkable. Nine races have been done in the season. Nine have been won by Lehikoinen. The 3id driver increased his advantage in the standings by enough to be crowned 2010 FBM Trophy champion. Mathematically it was a really close call. his main rival TEM O.Rinne could still equal him in points in the final round. The deciding factor would be the number of race wins, and of course that goes to J. Lehikoinen taking every race that has been started this season.

At the special layout race at Aston Club was given some opposition. zoom Siirto worked his way to second place in the qualifying race, but Lehikoinen controlled a two second gap. In the main race, TEM/O.Rinne got to the front before Lehikoinen did but had to concede the lead after a battle with his countryman and LRT Orchi. O.Rinne did his best to hang one to Lehikoinen but in the second half of the race the red car stepped his game up a little. Being the only driver diving down below the 1:10 mark, he increased his gap to over 5 seconds at the finish, doing exactly enough to take the title before the final round.

Adam Wisniewski unbeatable at Blackwood GP

After the summer break the league headed to Blackwood where the BF1 made his first public appearance to prepare for the seventh round of the OWRL F1. After his disqualification in the last race at Aston North Adam Wisniewski had to do something to keep the current championship leader Quentin Benoît in his sight, but his prior results in Blackwood weren’t as successful as they needed to be this time.

Aston Club layout
From Krutch at Tuesday 17 August 2010 - 20:28:35 | Comments: 0
Layout announced for Aston Club

The layout to be used at the next round in the FBM Trophy is finally here. It has been created by FireDragon and given the green light after testing. The layout can be downloaded from our downloads section or by using the link below. Feel free to install it on your server.

Using Aston Club as a basis, the second turn is made a lot tighter and right before the final corner a chicane has been added. The main overtaking spot, going towards turn 1 has been left intact. In testing lap times have been around the 1:11,0 mark, but certainly these will drop after more testing.

You may set a time at the normal Aston Club configuration for the tracker. Based on those times, the grid for the qualifying race will be made. Still, let us know in the comments what lap times you are capable of on the layout!

3id J.Lehikoinen keeps on winning

In round 2 of the FBM Trophy, the three races on the streets of South City Town have been dominated by J.Lehikoinen. Just as in round 1, the 3id driver won the qualifying race, lead the sprint race from start to finish and then came from a 8th starting position through the field in the main race. TEM/O.Rinne was the only other driver to lead a considerable amount of laps, but just after half-way in the main race he had to concede the lead, still finishing second whilst Alien rounded out the podium.

J.Lehikoinen has not yet won a OWRL season but his total domination has seen him build up a 40 points gap to second placed Alien. A DNF in any of the point scoring races could still cost him the lead, but as long as he keeps scoring points, Lehikoinen certainly will be hard to catch.

The next race takes place at a special layout of Aston Club. The layout will be announced in one of the upcoming days.

The updated standings from race 1 can be found here. If the season standings (link below) look like they are not updated to the results after the second round, please clear your cache and try again. Alternatively, use a different browser.

FBM Trophy round 1 seized by 3id J.Lehikoinen

The first round of the FBM Trophy 2010 has seen the same driver winning all three races on server 1. 3id J.Lehikoinen was pre-qualified second behind CoRe S.Riegler. During lap 1 of the qualifying race, the 3id driver overtook S.Riegler, who immediately tried to strike back. In doing so the cars made contact. This send S.Riegler into a spin, causing him to finish 10th in the race that determined the starting grid of the sprint race. J.Lehikoinen was unaffected by the contact, which was deemed a racing incident by the marshals, and went on to win the qualifying race and then the sprint race from pole.

The main race turned out to be the most eventful, not in the least part due to the reversed top 8 starting grid. TEM O.Rinne used the pole position he was handed to take the lead and increase the distance to others as BRT Flip hold off the rest of the field in P2. However, in lap 6 the chance for a surprise winner quickly was diminished. O.Rinne took a little too much curb in the right hander starting the final complex, causing his car to flip and ending his race. Meanwhile, Flip´s efforts to keep the drivers behind him came to an end as first, one driver got past and then he made a small mistake, sending him into a spin. The first driver to profit? J.Lehikoinen.

Already in lap 1, Lehikoinen jumped up from P8 to P3 by using a chaotic ending of the lap to his advantage. After overtaking Flip and passing the stricken car of O.Rinne, the path seemed clear for his third win of the day. CoRe S.Riegler had other plans though. after finally taking over the second position, he closed the gap to the leader to under two seconds setting the fastest lap time in the process. J.Lehikoinen wasn't allowed to relax a single moment, but the Finnish driver kept his cool and finished ahead of S.Riegler, completing the perfect score in the opening round of the season.

The FBM Trophy continues on Sunday 15 August at South City Town. The results and standings as shown below show a minor fault in the points. This will be corrected after the SO Town race.
